Are you a good candidate?

Whether LASIK is right for you depends on your eyes : you may be a good candidate if your vision is stable, if you have myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness) with or without astigmatism (irregular curvature of the cornea), and if you have no other eye problems.

To evaluate you for possible LASIK treatment, your eye doctor will measure the way light focuses in your eye, examine your cornea (the clear covering of your eye), take computerized measurements of the cornea's shape, and measure its thickness. Through these and other tests, your doctor checks for possible reasons LASIK treatment is not suitable for your eye.

Lasik

It's important to have a realistic understanding of just what LASIK offers. LASIK works well for most people, but does not promise permanent freedom from distance or reading glasses. Recovery, while the eye heals and vision clears, takes several days to a few weeks. You feel minimal discomfort during and after the procedure.
